About the Song

On a Clear Day (You Can See Forever) was written in 1965 for the Broadway musical of the same name, with music by Burton Lane and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner. Although the show had a modest run on Broadway, the song took on a second life when Barbra Streisand performed it in the 1970 film adaptation. Today, it remains a classic in the Broadway and jazz worlds alike (I love Robert Goulet’s version as well).

Why I Chose This Song

I’ve always been inspired by how Streisand transformed this tune into a standard, giving it staying power beyond the original musical. Singing it lets me tap into that theatrical magic while also putting my own spin on it.

Favorite Lyric

“You’ll feel part of every mountain, sea, and shore.”
